Greta Rodríguez has been teaching piano at the “Encore Academy of the Arts” since 2016. She teaches piano students of all levels, inspiring and nurturing them through her extensive and diverse music expertise.
Ms. Rodríguez teaching career spans for more than 20 years. Between 1995 and 1998 she worked as a piano professor at the “Alfonso Pérez Isaac School of Arts” of Matanzas, Cuba. In 1998, she began teaching Piano Performance, Methodology, and Chamber Music at Havana’s “National School of Arts.” In 2005 she worked at the “A. G. Caturla Music Conservatory” as a piano teacher, where she also founded the school’s first string orchestra.
Ms. Rodríguez holds a Piano Professor degree from the “National School of the Arts” (Cuba), and two Bachelor’s Degrees, one in Orchestral Conducting, and another in Sound Engineering & Music Production, from the prestigious “Instituto Superior de Arte” of Havana, Cuba.
After receiving elementary piano training with professor Beatriz Lamothe at the “Alfonso Pérez School of Arts” in her hometown, Matanzas, Ms. Rodríguez continued her piano studies at the National School working with professors such as Miriam Pérez Fleitas, Iliana Cortizo and Rosalía Capote.
In 1995 she continued her superior studies at the University of the Arts (ISA), where she worked simultaneously in her two Bachelor’s Degrees in Orchestral Conducting and Sound Engineering & Music Production. She also holds a Pre-Doctoral Graduate Degree in Hispanic Musical Heritage from the Royal and Pontifical University of San Gerónimo of Havana, as well as a Master’s Degree in Science, Education of the Arts from the University of the Arts in Havana.
Mrs. Rodriguez is also the founder and conductor of the “Alternativo Chamber Ensemble,” which she has conducted in concerts and festivals in Cuba and Mexico -National Auditorium Amadeo Roldán, San Felipe Neri Oratory, Iglesia de Paula Sacred Art Museum, San Francisco de Asis, San Miguel de Allende Chamber Music Festival (2011), and the Contemporary Music Festival of Havana in 2012.
In 2014 the Ensemble Alternativo recorded two studio albums which received several nominations at CUBADISCO (Cuba’s main recording arts event), including Best music album for children, and Best Concert Music album.
