Clarice Lee was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and has been studying classical piano since the age of 8. She continued performing piano competitively and attended the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School. Wanting to combine her love for music and passion for helping others, Ms. Lee received her Bachelor’s of Music degree at the University of Miami Frost School of Music double majoring in Neurologic Music Therapy and Psychology. She continued with a concentration in classical piano under the guidance of Dr. Luca Cubisino, and lyrical voice with Dr. Nobleza Pilar.
Ms. Lee completed her internship at United Community Options in downtown Miami, which houses different programs that serve individuals with special needs. There she worked under Early Beginnings Academy, a charter school with children from birth to eight years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other genetic disorders, as well as providing music therapy to adolescents aged 14-22 with various developmental disorders. In addition to her work in school settings, Ms. Lee has also worked in hospital settings providing music therapy to children with various neurologic disorders and adults with schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders within behavioral health.
Following her internship, she obtained her board certification in music therapy and holds the credential MT-BC. Ms. Lee worked at the Miami Conservatory of Music as the Managing Director of the Music Therapy program and adaptive lesson teacher for the past two years, where she was responsible for creating and developing the music therapy program. She facilitated adaptive piano lessons and individual music therapy sessions to children and teenagers of various developmental disorders. In addition, Ms. Lee taught Music Discovery class and Keyboard class to groups of children aged 4 to 10 during summer camp sessions, filled in as substitute teacher for individual private piano lessons and group keyboard classes as needed, and worked as a judge for the National Federation of Music Clubs during the Piano Solo Festival. In 2019, she also worked as the music therapy interventionist on the Musical Contour Regulation Facilitation research study for the University of Miami. There, she worked in a Head Start Facility monitoring intervention implementation and overseeing assessments and participant recruitment. Ms. Lee is currently attending the University of Miami Frost School of Music pursuing her master’s degree in music therapy and has the clinical teaching assistant position supervising undergraduate students.
Aside from classical piano training, Ms. Lee is proficient in voice, guitar and ukulele. She teaches adaptive piano lessons and facilitates individual music therapy sessions with children and teenagers with various special needs. Ms. Lee will be aiding in the development of the music therapy and adaptive lesson program at Encore Academy of the Arts.
