Cuban born Nora Alina Martinez de Osaba is a new addition to the faculty of Encore Academy of Arts, where she currently teaches clarinet to students of all levels.
Mrs. Martinez received elementary and intermediate classical clarinet training at the “Raul Sanchez” conservatory in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. She received higher education at the “Superior Institute of Arts” in Havana, Cuba, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Music Degree” with a specialty in Clarinet.
With a career spanning for 27 years, Mrs. Martinez has worked for 15 years (2002-2017) as a Clarinet, Piano, Music Theory, and Chamber Music teacher at the Vocational School of Arts “Raul Sanchez” and the Conservatory of Arts “Carlos Hidalgo,” both in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. As a Clarinet performer she worked with the Concert Band of Pinar del Rio from 1993-2017, with the Symphony Orchestra of the Lyric Theater “Ernesto Lecuona” from 1994-2017, as well as acting as musical director of the “Chamber Trio Lecuona.”
Mrs. Martinez’s accomplishments include several awards and performances in festivals and special events. In 1991 she was awarded the First Prize in the Amadeo Roldan National Contest, and in 1999 the Second Prize in Clarinet at “Musicalia – Superior Institute of Arts on Havana. In 1994 she participated in the “First Chamber Music Event” in Santiago de Cuba, in 1995 in the “First Cuban and Latin-American Music Event” of Bayamo, Cuba. In 1997 she performed at the “A Tempo con Caturla” chamber music Festival in Santa Clara, and in 2011 at the Sancti Spiritus Chamber Music Festival.
Mrs. Martinez arrived in Miami in 2017, ever since continuing her work as a performer and teaching at local music schools and academies. Her students participate regularly in concerts and competitions in venues such as the Steinway Grand Piano Gallery in Coral Gables and the Coral Gables’ Country Club. Ms. Martinez is a very organized teacher, flexible and driven to design and develop new training programs to meet the needs of her students, and able to develop positive relationships with them and their parents in order to ensure their success.
