We welcome all students interested in pursuing music in a wide variety of instruments in a private or group class setting. Encore Academy’s Music Program also affords their students the opportunity to take part in our recitals year-round, as well as participation in competitions and evaluations. Encore’s Music Program offers private music lessons (one-on-one) for all ages and levels. From the beginners to advanced levels, Encore offers music lessons for all instruments, composition and voice. Students may enroll in private lessons and/or in group lessons at any time, all year long. Here at Encore, we offer music lessons for the following instruments:
The recommended age to start private music lessons vary according to the instrument of choice. Encore offers 30 minutes and one hour long private lessons, once or multiple times a week.
Encore also offers group music lessons in:
The group lessons help students understand the fundamentals of music in an interactive and fun way, while the private lessons focus more on technique and performance skills of the chosen instrument. Students that enroll in group lessons also take private lessons in their chosen instrument(s). The Discovery Music Class is the perfect for way to stimulate creativity and develop motor skills from an early age while having lots of fun!
Encore’s Music Program prepares students for auditions into performing arts magnet programs around the nation, as well as college auditions to enter into a university for a career in music. We have a 100% acceptance rate in all magnet schools for which our students have applied (New World School of the Arts, MAST Academy, and Coral Reef Senior High School, among others). We have students that have been accepted to Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin College, Eastman School of Music, Florida International University, University of Miami and Carnegie Melon for a career in Music or even a double major in some cases!
An important part of our curriculum is the exposure we give our students by affording them the opportunity to participate in recitals, masterclasses, competitions and evaluations, as well as possibly receive music scholarships. Our music students are encouraged to participate in at least two Encore Recitals annually. We hold our recital in December at the University of Miami in Gusman Hall, and in June at the University of Miami Victor E. Clarke Recital Hall. Encore also invites all voice students, advanced strings, pianists, and other instrumentalists to be part of Encore’s Performing Arts Showcase, which takes place in May at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. This event is mainly for our Dance Program with a special invitation to a selected group of our instrumentalist students. Other venues in the past include Florida International University and Ransom Everglades School.
According to their level, each student will be able to participate in local competitions and evaluations that will provide extra performance opportunities. Recitals, evaluations and competitions outside of Encore are subject to extra fees. A list of all registration fees is available before enrolling students into these events. Encore also offers Masterclasses with distinct, world renowned artists, such as pianist Kemal Gekic. These Masterclasses are designed to broaden their musical knowledge to even higher levels.
As a member of the Music Teachers National Association (mtna.org), which is affiliated to the Florida State Music Teachers Association (fmta.org) and the Miami Music Teachers Association (miamimta.org), we are able to enter students in different evaluations, competitions and performances.
Encore Academy has recently added the Music Therapy Program. More information coming soon!
